The Cambridge of the East - Zhejiang University

Reputed as "Cambridge of the East" by Joseph Needham (twice visited ZJU in 1944) in China's modern history of higher education, Zhejiang University has been consistently ranked as among top 3 in the nation.

Zhejiang University (ZJU; simplified Chinese: 浙江大学; traditional Chinese: 浙江大學; pinyin: Zhèjiāng Dàxué; Wade-Giles: Che-chiang-ta-hsüeh), sometimes referred to as Zheda, is a national university in China. Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University is one of China's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education.[2] The university is one of the nine members of the C9 League.

Zhejiang University is located approximately 112 miles (180 km) southwest of Shanghai in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang University Library collection contains about 6.9 million volumes[3], making it one of the largest academic libraries in the country[4]. The university focuses on both undergraduate and graduate education.
